Which of these 10 ways to use a .eu domain name are interesting for you?

The Sunrise Period, during which trademark keepers and companies had a preferred position to register their trademarks and company names as a .eu domain name, is over now. At this moment, everybody can register .eu domain names without having to meet all kinds of demands!

Of course opinions are divided, but experts expect that .eu after .com will become the second most used (and therefore the second most important) domain name extension of the world.

Let's see what you can do with a domain name. Which domain names you can register.

"Why should I register a .eu domain name? All the good names have already gone"

Wrong! You'll be amazed to see what's still available! And you'll never know if you don't give it a try...

Suggestion 1: First names

And I do mean first names because you are going to register not only your own first name but also the names of your partner and children. Imagine you can say to someone: "Oh, look at www.mike.eu" or "Send an email to mail@jim.eu". That would be something!

And your children, even if they are still young, must have there own domain name. Think about how they are going to use such a domain name in the future. Students will no longer do their homework on paper but give their (business)cards with their domain names on it.

"Look at www.laura.eu. There you will find my homework with pictures included!"

Giving a domain name is part of the education of your children. The price is not something to worry about (you can have your own .eu domain name for only 12 euros). Even when your children are too young to use a domain name it's a smart move to register one.

Suggestion 2: Last names

A first name is only good for just one person. When you do have that domain with your first name, you have something to be proud of. But a last name can be used by the entire family! Check this out:

On the internet people use sub-domain names. A perfect example of sub-domain names is pagina.nl. The normal domain name is www.pagina.nl with sub-domains like hosting.pagina.nl. If you register the last name of your family, you can then make sub-domain names such as:

yourfirstname.lastname.eu
thenameofyourchild.lastname.eu
thenameofyourpartner.lastname.eu
thenameofyouruncleoraunt.lastname.eu
thenameofyourgranddadorgrandma.lastname.eu
thenameofyournepheworniece.lastname.eu
thenameofsomeoneelsewiththesamelastname.lastname.eu

You can also give these persons an email address as well:

Yourfirstname@lastname.eu
Thenameofyourchild@lastname.eu
Thenameofyourpartner@lastname.eu
Thenameofyouruncleoraunt@lastname.eu
Thenameofyourgranddadorgrandma@lastname.eu
Thenameofyournepheworniece@lastname.eu
Thenameofsomeoneelsewiththesamelastname@lastname.eu

You could make some money if there is a company that carries the name of the founder. For example: Let's say your last name is Smith. Somewhere in Europe there is a painter that has the same last name as you have. You now can rent the sub-domain name painter.smith.eu with an email address painter@smith.eu to the painter for let's say 5 euros per month.

If you do this with every company that is called Smith, you could earn a very nice extra income. It is going to be at least enough to cover the internet costs. Think of something like:

painter.smith.eu
plumber smith.eu
contractor.smith.eu
bakery.smith.eu
consultancy.smith.eu
let your imagination go for a moment…

All these companies must have their own websites, but they can use your domain name that you redirect (without any costs for you) to their website.

Suggestion 3: Company and organization name

There is no doubt that you want to register your company name. The first reason is that people search automatically first on company name (like they do with .com). The second reason is that you want to prevent someone else to use your company name (maybe to steal your clients).

This is also a good reason to have the name of your company or organization put on record.

Even a club or corporation wants to have a .eu domain name. You could register the name of your club as a surprise for them. When the next meeting takes place you'll have something wonderful to tell them.

Suggestion 4: Hobby and sport

Do you have a hobby? Something that excites you very much? A sport, hobby or club? What if you would have a domain name like fitness.eu or biking.eu or golf.eu?

Think for a moment about your own hobby…

You could make a website that tells everything about your hobby and use it to bring people with the same passion closer together. This way you don't have to worry about visitors for your website. And that can be worth some money, because a factory that makes bicycles would love to advertise on biking.eu. And a fitness center would like to advertise on fitness.eu. They might even want to buy your domain name…

Suggestion 5: Product names

If you have a company, it is advisable to register your product names as well. With domain names like that you can attract a lot of visitors to your website because these names will be remembered. Domain names like bicycle.eu, bread.eu, flowers.eu, shoes.eu, curtains.eu and diapers.eu could be worth a lot of money. Do not only register singular domain names but also plural domain names. For example: bicycle.eu and bicycles.eu.

Suggestion 6: Professions and branch names

If you are looking for a real estate agent in the yellow pages, you would search for… real estate. If you are looking for a real estate agent on the internet you are looking for realestate.eu! Such a domain name has a large and natural attractiveness to people. It is so logical to look there first. Therewith you are ahead of your competitors.

Think for a second. Which domain name could be interesting for you…

painter.eu / plumber.eu / contractor.eu / bakery.eu / consultancy.eu /  butcher.eu /  accountant.eu /  wholesale.eu /  barber.eu…

Think also about food or nutrition. Pssst... Don't tell anyone but if you plan to register a domain name to sell it for a large profit to the food and nutrition industry, domain names like strawberry.eu or bread.eu or butter.eu could be very interesting.

Suggestion 7: Slogans and statements

Dontworrybehappy.eu is a very well-known statement that should be registered. You can also think of something like homesweethome.eu for someone who sells furniture or decorates houses.

What kinds of slogans and statements can you come up with?

Here are some ideas to inspire you:

Happybirthday.eu
gowiththeflow.eu
winnersmakeplans.eu

Suggestion 8: Happenings

There are a lot of  domain names you can think of that have something to do with happenings. Think of vacation.eu, gettingmarried.eu, birth.eu, moving.eu, mortgage.eu and so on.

But also things like travel.eu, skivacations.eu, houswarmingparty.eu, babyshower.eu and so on. The possibilities are endless!

Suggestion 9: Your already existing domain name!

Of course! That domain name is already known and you want for sure that visitors on yourdomain.eu visit your website too. Another reason is that you can prevent someone else of having success with your domain name!

Suggestion 10: Another language

Everything that is said before on this page can be applied in other languages as well. For example. Voetbal.eu or soccer.eu or fussball.eu. It depends on what you are going to do with the domain name but it could be important to give you this hint.

As you can see, there is a lot you can do with a .eu domain name. It is extremely important that you do not miss the boat this time!
